2007 League Table – “First to 25”

Butterfly Sightings
Once again we will be running this annual League. It’s partly for fun and partly to encourage people to get out and about to secure those early sightings. The aim of the challenge is to see who can be the first to record 25 species of butterfly in the UTB area. The competition began four years ago on UTB’s 21st birthday with the challenge being “First to 21”. It will be incremented every year, so 2008 will be “First to 26” and so on.
Anyone
can enter, just email me to
get your name added to the League Table and then send in details of your
butterfly sightings on the day you see them.
The
only rules are that the butterfly species must be seen in the wild (your garden
is included) and must be recorded in the UTB area of Bucks, Berks and Oxon.
As always, please don’t forget to forward all your records to Jim Asher, UTB Records Officer.

** WINNER ANNOUNCED – 5TH JUNE 2007 ** ·
5th JUNE – CONGRATULATIONS TO DAVE FERGUSON
WHO, IN A VERY CLOSE-RUN FINAL, PICKED UP PAINTED LADY AND MEADOW BROWN BY
10.16AM TO BE THE FIRST TO REACH 25 SPECIES THIS YEAR! ·
Thank you to everyone who took part - I hope you all
enjoyed the competition as much as I did. If you’re wondering what to do with
yourself now, then you can always have a go at our new Dayflying Moth
Challenge! ·
04/06 – Dave heads the league again after adding BlH to his total and
David moves into equal 2nd place. ·
02/06 – Gaps close in the league as more species emerge in the warm
weather. We could see a winner any
day now. ·
01/06 – After a spell of bad weather, Tom, Richard & Dave manage
to find a new species. Mick sees his first Blăck Hairstreak of the
season. ·
24/05 – Cathy and Tom both add to their species count. ·
23/05 – Mick & Dave join forces to look for Adonis, while Richard
goes the extra mile (or two!) for a Duke. ·
20/05 – Derek adds 3 Blues to his tally. Large Skipper is now on the
wing! |
