The park is a mosaic of hidden valleys, varied landscapes and diverse habitats. Ancient woods, flowery meadows, marshes, heaths, ponds and bracken covered slopes support a wealth of wildlife. Most of the park is classified as an SSSI. The main car park at the end of Old Road at SP563062. Alternative parking can be found at Horspath Sports Ground with a walk up into the park.
